The Pocket Press™ Technical FAQ
Compatibility & Fitment
What dies are compatible with The Pocket Press™?
The press is designed specifically for inline bullet seating dies (also known as arbor dies). This includes popular models from L.E. Wilson, Short Action Customs (SAC), and Micron. It is optimized for dies with a 1″ to 1-1/4″ diameter body.
What is the benefit of the included Fluted Base?
The improved fluted base is optimized for 1″ diameter dies. It provides superior grip, increased stability, and better overall die handling during the seating process, ensuring the die remains secure and centered under pressure.
What cartridge sizes can it handle?
The press is adjustable to accommodate die lengths ranging from 3″ to 5.3″. This covers the vast majority of rifle cartridges, from short-action calibers up to long magnums.
Does it work with standard 7/8″-14 threaded dies?
No. The Pocket Press™ is engineered specifically for inline seating dies. It does not feature internal threading for standard bench-mounted press dies.
Performance & Force
How much seating force does it generate?
Despite its 9 oz weight, the mechanical advantage of the precision lever system allows the user to generate over 300 lbs of seating force with a single hand.
Is it powerful enough to seat bullets with significant neck tension?
Absolutely. It provides more than enough force for standard seating and is particularly effective for “re-seating” bullets to break bullet weld—a technique used by elite F-Class and PRS shooters to ensure consistent start-pressures.
How do I adjust the height for different dies?
The press features an octagonal base that provides eight different height levels. Combined with the adjustable lever mounting holes, you can fine-tune the tool to achieve the perfect lever position and ergonomic advantage for your specific die and cartridge setup.
Durability & Materials
What is the tool made of?
To ensure a lifetime of service while maintaining a lightweight profile, the tool is crafted from high-grade anodized aluminum, stainless steel, and bronze bushings.
Do I need to lubricate the press? No. The bronze bushings provide smooth, reliable operation without the need for external lubrication.
Portability & Travel
Does it come with a case?
Yes. Every Pocket Press™ includes a custom-fitted Nylon travel case. This case is designed to hold the press and your seating die components securely together in your range bag or pocket, preventing scratches to your equipment.
Can I take this on an airplane?
Yes. It is a handheld mechanical tool and contains no hazardous materials. We recommend keeping it in its included case within your checked or carry-on luggage.
